The holidays are here, and so are the festivities! Whether
it’s a black tie event, social gathering with friends, or even the annual
holiday work party… your desired hair style for these events will certainly be
on your mind. There are many on-trend styles this season for both short and
long lengths. Some genres that usually inspire me for these types of events are
soft and romantic, urban and modern, or classic – like Grace Kelly, for
example, who in my opinion transcends time, and is always appropriate for any
formal event.

This holiday season there are a few styles that are
relatively easy to create yourself. (For those of us who don’t have the
pleasure of having our own personal hairstylist!) Dramatic side parts and low
pony tails are very simple to style. Combine the two for a great fashion-forward
look! You can also create a beautiful chignon by using either a rolled sock or,
my personal choice, an over-sized hair donut. The donut can be purchased at any
accessories store, such as Claire’s, and is used to create fullness in the bun. Another great holiday hair trend is the addition of hair
adornments such as clips, combs, and barrettes in various styles.

The pompadore is yet another holiday style that works with
both a ponytail and as a half-up/half-down look, as well as messy or sleek. The look is created by teasing top portions of the hair to
create height, then smoothing a front section of the hair over the teased
portions to create a puffed up bump of hair – the pompadore.

For those who desire a more intricate look, braids are still
very popular this season. Depending on the intricacy of the braid, this style can
become a little more complicated, and is not as easy to create as a part or
ponytail. If you have concerns about creating any of these looks yourself, you
can ask the many talented stylists at Capristo Salon and Wellness spa for some
tricks of the trade the next time you are in for your hair services. You can
also make a holiday hairstyle appointment and we will transform you into your
beautiful holiday vision!
